Abstract

This article explores the differences and similarities between reading and listening as the main receptive skills in language learning. It analyzes the specific methods used to teach and develop these skills, emphasizing their cognitive, psychological, and pedagogical aspects. The study identifies key challenges faced by learners—such as limited vocabulary, comprehension difficulties, and anxiety—and proposes effective solutions including extensive reading programs, strategy-based listening tasks, and integrated approaches. The paper concludes that combining reading and listening instruction leads to more balanced and effective language development.
