THE PHENOMENON OF NOMINATION IN TERMS
Abstract
This article analyzes the linguistic and cognitive foundations of the phenomenon of nomination in terms. It is substantiated that terms are not merely special scientific expressions, but also means of naming new concepts as a product of human cognition. The process of nomination is explained as being closely related to human perception, national thinking, culture, and social needs. In addition, the article emphasizes semantic clarity, linguistic appropriateness, and a popular (user-oriented) approach as the main criteria in the selection of terms. The problems that arise in the process of creating national terms, especially the cases of incorrect naming based on translation, are considered from a critical point of view.
